Hailing from the cities of Armagh and Derry and are made up of Ciara McCafferty (vocals)\, Ciaran Carlin (Flute/Whistles) Paul Starrett (Guitar) Emer Mallon (Harp) and Conor Mallon (Uilleann Pipes/Whistles). \nLabelled as the Hottest New Group out of Northern Ireland\, (Chicago Irish American News) Connla have been quickly making an impact on the folk/traditional scene. Songlines magazine made Connla their “must see act” for the tour of the UK and stated “A band this young shouldn’t be this good”. Their sensitive and innovative arrangements of traditional and modern folk songs and tunes\, have helped them create a sound which is very identifiable as Connla. Irish Music Magazine stated; “Consider this your early warning system\, there is something serious on the horizon and that creative storm is Connla” (Irish Music Magazine). \nThe group is a full mix of musical knowledge\, training and performance experience unheard of in a group this young. All are close friends and/or family who go way back together in the Northern musical scene. Each has won several performance awards. The resulting music is satisfyingly complex\, yet directly and easily accessible. This is that rare group that is musically attractive to the experienced trad purist\, as well as the music fan who knows nothing of the music. There is the mix in all of their music of great lift to the music and deep insights in the songs\, all coupled with top musicianship and taste. DESCRIPTION:From Minneapolis Minnesota. The band is rooted in blues and Classic Rock with a jam style all of our own. Promoting their first release Open Jam\, the band is getting some airplay with the song Bobby’s Blues\, currently on multiple stations across the US and followed up by the song Dog getting some good airtime as well. Winners of the 2016 Famous Dave’s battle of the bands. And voted best album by Duluth Minnesota’s 94x. The band is at a high point. For the Inline Marathon competition\, Duluth blocked off I35 while the band played in the tunnels for 2000 spectators and racers. The band keeps getting better moving through the trenches..playing locally\, regionally and nationally at clubs and festivals. Anywhere and everywhere! Most notably Lowertown Blues Festival in St Paul Minnesota. Duluth Minnesota’s Homegrown Festival where 200 bands perform on the streets and clubs of Duluth\, MN and Superior\, WI for a week. Northwoods Blues Festival in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin. And in 2017 at The Red Gorilla Festival in Austin Texas\, a division of the South by Southwest festival. \nFor the band’s second effort they have signed on with legendary producer and engineer Jonathan Akre. Jonathan’s credentials speak for themselves and can only help the band achieve the success we deserve. The band is moving on up! So watch for us live! And don’t forget to download our album!
