DESCRIPTION:Cost: Free \nLive music at the Pint from Emily Whitcomb! \nEmily spent her childhood watching too many Disney movies\, causing her to think that all she had to do was sing to woodland creatures and wait for her Prince Charming. She has since given up on that fantasy\, but the constant singing and early opportunities to perform onstage with dancing\, acting and music\, provided the foundation for her passion to entertain. Songwriting slowly crept into Emily’s life through school projects\, most notably a musical presentation about high blood pressure. It wasn’t until Emily’s first year of college that she taught herself a handful of chords on the guitar and discovered her love of songwriting. \nHer songs encompass a wide variety of topics from love and heartbreak to foster care awareness and synopses of certain 80’s musicals. A song she wrote in 2010 was selected as one of ten in the nation to compete in the finals of the Ford Belt it Out songwriting competition. Although she didn’t win the contest\, it was a great experience and gave her some national exposure. Emily was recently named as one of the winners of the 2011 International songwriting competition\,”Broadway Bound Musicians” \nIn 2010 she played the role of Ariel in Wits’ End Theatre’s production of Footloose which led to a jolt of inspiration and resulted in her penning the “Footloose Rap.” The birth of the rap coincided with the filming of the Footloose movie remake. Emily posted a video on Youtube of her performing the rap which was then seen by Craig Brewer\, the director of the film\, as well as many other cast and crew members. She was invited to an early screening of the film and got to record a remake of the rap with the Footloose stars! That video is included in the special features on the Blu-ray release of the film.

Nine months later\, this brave little girl is still fighting! \nCameo Restaurant and friends are hosting a benefit in Les Fields Hall at the Castle with EVERYTHING going to the Brown family. They are traveling back and forth from Ohio and Minnesota while also operating Estelle’s Eatery & Bar. They are wonderful people who need some help. \nWe will have a silent and live auction\, food and drinks from local restaurants and bars and more! \nIf you are unable to attend but would like to donate\, we are setting up a bank account instead of a Gofundme\, so everything can go to the Brown family. Message Cameo Restaurant on Facebook or call the restaurant at 507-361-2070 for more information. \nTickets are $50.00/person and includes all food served at the event. Drinks will be available for purchase. Cans of beer will be $3.00 or 2 for $5.00. \nThis is an incredibly meaningful event that will help out one of the hospitality industry’s own. DESCRIPTION:Nick Anderson and The Skinny Lovers (NASL) Live \nAfter the release of their first two EPs\, Ephrem Pts. 1 & 2\, Nick Anderson & The Skinny Lovers (NASL) partnered with Tinderbox Music in Minneapolis\, MN. Their first radio promo landed them a number 1 chart position in Florida\, and a number 8 position in North Carolina. \nWith the newly found radio audience\, these songs and their deep emotional context made them a perfect fit for TV Networks like MTV\, E!TV\, NETFLIX. These networks\, along with 10+ more\, licensed NASL’s debut EPs.\nThese licenses opened many doors and ears of industry professionals. Phil Ehart of KANSAS even called NASL’s song 24 ‘The Anthem of a Generation.’ and the band secured an opening spot with former BoDeans frontman Sam Llanas. In 2018 NASL hit the road to play Red Gorilla Music Festival in Austin\, TX during SXSW. They sold out prominent live music venue Handlebar. Later that year\, they played Summerfest’s Emerging Artist Series which boasts alumni such as WALK THE MOON\, Maren Morris\, and X Ambassadors.\nNick Anderson & The Skinny Lovers released their debut full length album Ephrem (Pts. 1-3) to a sold out hometown crowd in 2019. As the shows get bigger\, and the fans get more attached\, this band shows no signs of slowing down.

Their sensitive and innovative arrangements of traditional and modern folk songs and tunes\, have helped them create a sound which is very identifiable as Connla. Irish Music Magazine stated; “Consider this your early warning system\, there is something serious on the horizon and that creative storm is Connla” (Irish Music Magazine). \nThe group is a full mix of musical knowledge\, training and performance experience unheard of in a group this young. For the Inline Marathon competition\, Duluth blocked off I35 while the band played in the tunnels for 2000 spectators and racers. The band keeps getting better moving through the trenches..playing locally\, regionally and nationally at clubs and festivals. Anywhere and everywhere! Most notably Lowertown Blues Festival in St Paul Minnesota. Duluth Minnesota’s Homegrown Festival where 200 bands perform on the streets and clubs of Duluth\, MN and Superior\, WI for a week. Northwoods Blues Festival in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin. And in 2017 at The Red Gorilla Festival in Austin Texas\, a division of the South by Southwest festival. \nFor the band’s second effort they have signed on with legendary producer and engineer Jonathan Akre.
