The show will also be Six Mile Grove’s Rochester Release of their newest album “Million Birds”. \n \nNovember 24th – All Ages Show\nCastle Community\nDoors open at: 7:00PM\nMiles Nielsen & The Rusted Hearts: 7:30PM\nSix Mile Grove: 9:00PM\nGeneral Admission\nTickets: $25 Door | $20 Online (plus tax & processing)  \n  \n\nSix Mile Grove\n \nIt all started in the small town of Lyle\, MN (pop. 500) with a skid loader and a fence post\, when Six Mile Grove frontman Brandon Sampson was 7 years old. He injured his hand when helping his dad on the family farm. The physician recommended guitar playing for rehabilitation\, and a few weeks later\, Sampson came home from the music store with a new guitar. His younger brother Brian threw a fit\, and was appeased with a shiny drum set. And so the seeds of Six Mile Grove were planted. The brothers spent years pounding away on their instruments in the kitchen of their great grandmother’s old house\, as well as singing in church with their mom\, an organist and devoted music lover. Soon Brian’s friend Barry\, from across the woods\, wanted to join the noise\, and so his years of piano lessons began paying off. The boys realized they would need a bass player\, put an ad in the paper\, and dug up Dezi Wallace from the “big city” of Austin\, MN\, who arrived courtesy of his mom\, as he did not yet have a driver’s license. \nFast forward 20 years\, and Six Mile Grove has a lot to be proud of. They have weathered the ever changing music scene as a primarily self-managed\, self-produced\, and self-recorded band. Their music has evolved accordingly\, as an organic\, honest voice that has not been tinkered with or tainted by the lure of record labels or flashy music producers. You’re sure to find influences of Minnesota music’s founding fathers; from Bob Dylan to the Jayhawks. DESCRIPTION:Twenty years. On paper\, that’s a pretty long time. Looking back on everything that’s happened\, it seems like only yesterday we were playing our first ever show at Joe Smith’s infamous party house in the summer of 1998. What started out as 5 guys just jamming in basements and garages and having fun together has grown into something very special and unique – something that none of us expected to last 5 years\, let alone 20.\nStarting with that fateful show at Joe’s\, our path led us to playing hundreds of shows at clubs\, rallies\, benefits and parties all over Minnesota and Wisconsin – basically any place or event that would have us – to becoming the de facto House Band at our home away from home\, the North Star Bar.\nGranted\, we never became ‘famous’ and we never ‘got signed’\, but so many other things happened to us that far outweighed things like that.\nOur primary motivation from day one has always been the music and our friends\, and bringing the two together (and of course\, plenty of alcohol). Point being\, the music is what initially drew us all together\, and the friendship and bonds with each other and all of you has kept us going all this time.\nWhile we haven’t been officially ‘active’ for all of these 20 years\, we’ve always felt that it was important to keep the circle together in some form or another\, and staying true to the music and our friends has always kept us coming back for more.\nOn that note\, we’d like to invite you to celebrate “20 years of being Unatural” with us for two glorious shows at the North Star Bar on Thanksgiving weekend\, November 23rd and 24th.\nIf you’ve been to one of our shows in the past\, you know how we roll\, and you know all the crazy shenanigans that always seem to happen. And if you’ve never seen us before\, this is the perfect time to witness the spectacle for yourself.\nUnfortunately\, on a sad note\, our brother and uber-dummer Steve Miller will be unable to play at these shows. In his place will be our great friend\, Radio Edit and Crown Royal Orchestra drum-killer Dustin Madline.\nSo there it is – two nights of fun\, good friends\, even better booze\, and any other cool shit we can come up with. Keep your eyes right here over the coming weeks for further developments as they happen.\nWe’ve made so many memories with all of you. We can’t wait to do it all again!

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again! Time to celebrate YOU our Pure Rockers…. \nStudent Appreciation Day is an afternoon full of fun\, food\, prizes\, and of course MUSIC! We are featuring all 3 of our performance classes as well as some of the PRS teachers own groups. We will have members from Carpet Booth Studios\, and Evans Guitar Repair to give some input on their services\, and what’s available in ways of recording and any instrument set up you may need. \nThe night will conclude with a The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra! This band is just PHENOMENAL! They are an extremely talented group of musicians who blend jazz\, funk\, pop\, and rock all into their unique sound. PRS students and siblings are free to attend\, we just ask adults to purchase a ticket. \nFood will be available for purchase\, and the entire event is indoors! Be sure to pass the word! \nFinally\, the PRS Scholarship program is a great project we have here at Pure Rock. This scholarship makes it possible for some students to take lessons when they otherwise wouldn’t be able to! The main way we can grow this fund is through donations like yours\, and the raffles we offer at events like this! We raffle off local business’s products and services as well as plenty of musical gear\, instruments\, PRS merch\, and even free lessons! Come ready to enter and win. SUMMARY:Lonesome Dan Kase at Forager Brewing Company
DESCRIPTION:As a teenager growing up in rural southern Michigan\, Lonesome Dan Kase happened upon a radio show called the “Blues Cruise\,” broadcast out on Ann Arbor. Although he had picked up the guitar a year or so before\, when he began hearing artists like Reverend Gary Davis and Robert Johnson\, he quickly became hooked on the country blues. \nLike many of the blues musicians from the early 1900’s that Lonesome Dan was listening to\, he acquired a wander-lust and began traveling around the country busking on street corners. After spending time in California and New Mexico\, Lonesome Dan ended up in Denver\, Colorado where he started playing in coffee houses and drinking establishments. It was here he met Johnny Long\, a blues player from St. Louis\, whose deeply distinctive singing and guitar-picking style continues to be a big influence on Lonesome Dan’s music. While in Denver\, Dan also played with a four- piece band called the 32-20 Jug Band. They played 1920’s and 30’s jug band music covering artists like Sleepy John Estes and The Cannon Jug Stompers. \nIn 2001\, Lonesome Dan moved to Minneapolis\, Minnesota and immediately began playing shows as a solo act. Within a year\, he formed a band called the Crush Collision Trio with mandolin and washboard accompaniment by Matt Yetter and Mikkel Beckmen . They played a mixture of Dan’s originals and old country blues. \nIn 2005\, Lonesome Dan met another musician who has been a significant influence on his playing. Dan had discovered the music of Paul Geremia\, a blues musician from Rhode Island\, while living in Denver. He was finally able to see one of Geremia’s live performances in St. Paul. After the show\, Dan was able to sit down with Paul and absorb some of his musical knowledge. Through Paul Geremia\, Kase was also introduced to some of the early R & B piano players like Joe Liggins and Charles Brown. Boogie-woogie and blues piano continue to play a big part in shaping the guitar technique of Lonesome Dan\, and after years of listening to classic and folk ragtime piano\, he has also begun transposing some of his favorite rags to guitar.

DESCRIPTION:We are keeping the Jazz Fest vibe alive. Come to Forager Brewery the day after the main stage performances at the Art Center. The D’Sievers will host a special edition of the Jazz Jam from 8-11 p.m. We’ll back you up on a jazz standard form the Hal Leonard Real Books. Use some of the inspiration you get from the jazz fest to rip some glorious solos. Don’t forget to bring your fan club. This will be the only November Jazz Jam. Don’t miss it!
