SUMMARY:Matthew Davies at Forager Brewery
DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee singer-songwriter Matthew Davies could easily be a study in the fungability of genre. As a solo performer with acoustic guitar and rack harmonica\, he could be pinned down as a folkie. Add even a couple more acoustic instruments\, as often heard on his fourth album\, Flowers and Ticket Stubs\, and he inhabits a curiously satisfying space between soft adult-rock and Americana. \nClean\, unfussy production suits Davies’ youthful\, earnest vocal timbre\, but there are a couple of points during these eight songs when his subtle approach could benefit from at least a touch of sonic boldness. Still\, as a document from a melodically winsome romantic\, Flowers compels on Davies’ own understated terms. DESCRIPTION:The Alluvion concert experience features live guitar and heavily effect driven layered vocals over psychedelic trip-hop down tempo beats. Evenson seems determined to assure audience members\, that this isn’t typical EDM or basement rock\, however once you’ve seen or heard Alluvion\, that becomes delightfully apparent. \nFor the last three years\, Berndt Evenson has been treating audiences to his unique brand of original\, albeit eclectic electronic music known as Alluvion. Evenson has been in various musical groups since he was a teenager\, all the while developing a skill for electronic production\, and pursuing his love for live performances. During April and May of 2017\, Alluvion toured parts of the Midwest\, Mountain states and Pacific Northwest – performing 30+ shows in over a dozen states. Alluvion continued to tour in the Midwest during the fall of 2017 and throughout 2018.

DESCRIPTION:Threshold Artist in Residence Debra D’Souza will lead this weekend-long beginner class\, during which students will design and create an 8” X 8”\, indoor mosaic using richly colored stained glass. We will cover all the steps of mosaic creation\, from preparing the substrate\, design\, tool use\, setting and grouting. Use your own design\, or choose from a selection of prepared designs for your piece. Use of tools\, substrates and all glass materials are included. No art or mosaic experience necessary. \nYou will leave with a framed work of art AND the basic knowledge to move forward on your new mosaic adventure and a printed handout for future reference. \nAdvance registration is required\, space is limited. \nFEES \n$175 tuition + $25 materials fee* \n*Material fee includes all use of tools and materials to finish your mosaic.
