Their sound fills the gap between complexity and groove. \nBiography\nWurk is a 7-piece funk-fusion group which formed in Madison\, WI in 2016. Inspired by Snarky Puppy\, Umphrey’s McGee\, The Motet\, Herbie Hancock\, and many others; their innovative original songs and ambitious interpretations of popular covers offer an impressive multi-genre exploration of funk\, jazz fusion\, prog rock\, reggae\, and more. Described by Isthmus Magazine as “summer-jam-perfect”\, their sound seeks to employ a musically educated tone; Wurk fills the gap between complexity and groove\, impressing fans and keeping them dancing all night. The Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) Awards recognized their rapid ascent to stardom in 2018 with the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award; then only six months later Wurk won five more awards including the coveted 2019 MAMA Artist of the Year Award. \nMax Morkri drives the band with his blend of solid grooving and intricate chops\, which is coupled by Casey Seymour’s powerful bass lines to pull the band together. Frank Laufenberg (guitar) and Miles Morkri (electric piano) provide rhythmic and tonal complexity while filling the role as the principal songwriters and vocalists. Ryley Buchanan\, the 2019 MAMA Synth Player of the Year\, brings a unique layer of effects to the mix. DESCRIPTION:From Minneapolis Minnesota. The band is rooted in blues and Classic Rock with a jam style all of our own. Promoting their first release Open Jam\, the band is getting some airplay with the song Bobby’s Blues\, currently on multiple stations across the US and followed up by the song Dog getting some good airtime as well. Winners of the 2016 Famous Dave’s battle of the bands. And voted best album by Duluth Minnesota’s 94x. The band is at a high point. For the Inline Marathon competition\, Duluth blocked off I35 while the band played in the tunnels for 2000 spectators and racers. The band keeps getting better moving through the trenches..playing locally\, regionally and nationally at clubs and festivals. Anywhere and everywhere! Most notably Lowertown Blues Festival in St Paul Minnesota. Duluth Minnesota’s Homegrown Festival where 200 bands perform on the streets and clubs of Duluth\, MN and Superior\, WI for a week. Northwoods Blues Festival in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin. And in 2017 at The Red Gorilla Festival in Austin Texas\, a division of the South by Southwest festival. \nFor the band’s second effort they have signed on with legendary producer and engineer Jonathan Akre. DESCRIPTION:Lee “El Dub” Walsh: Lyric Extraordinaire\, Musician\, Composer\, Multi-Instrumentalist\, and Vocalist\, with a love of music to no end and an even bigger passion to share it! \nEl Dub is what you call a “looper” or “One man Band”. He plays all instruments live including\, beat boxing\, guitar\, bass\, keys and harmonizing vocals and loops them into layers that end up sounding like a full band with just one guy. El Dub uses the RC50 Loop Station as well as a Godin Synth Guitar\, and Roland GR55 guitar synth pedal for sounds like horn sections\, flutes\, organ\, piano\, and wah clavi\, which help him create the staple sounds of a true funk band. You may recognize this type of performance from other “looping artist” like Zach Deputy\, and Keller Williams. \nGenre: Funk. Reggae\, Blues\, Hip Hop \nRECENT NEWS- \nEl Dub hit the road in Sept of 2012 for a Full Time National Tour to promote his Album\n” Love Inside My Heart” Released April 2012. Since then he has played over 400 shows in 35 dif. states including\, SD\, MN\, TX\, AZ\, CA\, FL\, NV\, CO\, NY\, MA\, NH\, MD\, CO\, SC\, GA\, IL\, IN\, OH\, NE\, IA\, WI\, MI\, MT\, OR\, WA\, ID\, ND\, MS\, AL\, NM\, WY\, PA\, . DESCRIPTION:ABOUT WURK\nWurk is an up-and-coming funk-fusion group from Madison\, Wisconsin. Isthmus Magazine described the band as “summer-jam-perfect”. Wurk’s style encompasses several genres\, with clear influences from bands like Snarky Puppy\, Thundercat\, Umphrey’s McGee\, Tauk\, The Motet\, Herbie Hancock\, Weather Report\, The Meters\, and many more. Their sound seeks to employ a musically educated yet groovy “Big City” tone.\nWith songwriting by guitarist/vocalist\, Frank Laufenberg\, Wurk fills the gap between complexity and groove. Max Morkri\, a 2018 MAMA award nominee for Instrumentalist of the Year on drum set\, drives the band with his blend of solid grooving and intricate chops. Coupled with Max’s drumming\, Casey Seymour delivers powerful bass lines which pull the band together. Ryley Buchanan (synth/organ)\, Daniel Haschke (saxophone/flute)\, and Carl Hipenbecker (Trumpet) add to Wurk’s complexity with horn lines\, effects\, and impressive solos.\nMost of Wurk’s members grew up in Mount Horeb\, Wisconsin\, just West of Madison. Their shared background creates the band’s closeness on stage and their ability to communicate musically. Wurk released two extended EPs in 2017\, and is currently focused on finishing their new EP\, The Devil’s Wurk. Fresh off the recording of their debut release\, the band is intent on hitting a raw nerve with music fans far and wide. \nSinger and frontwoman\, Inga Rudin\, toured previously with the band NAKED BEGGARS\, which featured Eric Brittingham and Jeff LaBar of CINDERELLA.
