SUMMARY:Jeff White at Smoak BBQ
DESCRIPTION:Smoak BBQ welcomes Alt-Country Artist Jeff White. Jeff might have 6 albums under his belt but get ready to hear some great country covers with some of his own originals mixed in. More about Jeff White – Alt-country from the hills of Western Wisconsin. Blending warm tones\, reverbs\, delays & vibrato with outlaw grit\, Jeff White sings of love\, loss & lust with an Americana vibe. Jeff began honing his songwriting skills working the red-eye shift as a taxi driver. Railroad conductors\, heartbroken men & women after bar close and wild out-of-towners were all frequent riders who freely opened up about their personal lives. Their late night conversations were all inspirations to the genesis of his upcoming career as a songwriter and entertainer.Jeff has toured the lower 48 from coast to coast as well as England\, Scotland and Wales. Much in the vein of Johnny Cash\, Jeff writes his own songs but also performs unique interpretations of other songs he admires. He’s opened up for Dr. John\, Mason Jennings\, Tony Jackson\, members of Wilco\, Joe Pug\, Hymn For Her\, Bill Staines and has performed alongside Phil Vassar and Sam Amidon. Justin Vernon of Bon Iver fame was once Jeff’s lead guitar player in Jeff White & The Front Porch. His song\, Please Come Back To Me was the intro theme song to Spectrum West\, Wisconsin Public Radio as well as being featured in the movie\, Illegal Use Of Joe Zopp and the TV show\, Discover Wisconsin. His music is regularly played on Converge Radio 99.9FM. He’s opened one of his tours at the legendary Big Top Chautauqua and has 6 studio albums under his belt. One album is with Charlie Parr & folk music legend Greg Brown titled\, Barn Aid – Down In The Valley. His latest CD\, Renegade Revelations\, recently received a 4 star rating in The Netherlands on the alt-country review website\, altcountry.nl. http://www.JEFFWHITEMUSIC.orghttp://www.reverbnation.com/jeffwhitemusic http://www.facebook.com/jeffwhiteeauclairePablo Center Performance (Covers): https://youtu.be/u0GCX-HpjWA

SUMMARY:Matthew Sayles at Smoak BBQ
DESCRIPTION:Smoak BBQ welcomes Matthew Sayle to the Smoak BBQ music lineup! \nMore about Matthew Sayles –\nMatthew R. Sayles is a singer-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and founder of Philville Records\, an independent label he formed in 2000 in Marquette\, Michigan. \nSayles has toured nationally and internationally\, and has had the honor of performing with country\, bluegrass\, and western swing legends like Merle Haggard\, Dwight Yoakam\, Asleep at the Wheel\, Larry Sparks\, Doyle Lawson\, the Duhks\, Uncle Earl\, Hot Club of Cowtown\, members of Bob Dylan’s “Rolling Thunder Review” and a long list of other highly talented regional and national roots music performers. \nSayles’s solo performances bounce from up tempo Telecaster-picked roots country\, early rock & roll\, roadhouse blues\, Americana ballads\, and bluegrass\, to north African-inspired instrumental pieces on five string banjo and south American-infused arrangements on the Andean ten-stringed Charango. \nAn accomplished songwriter\, story-teller\, and performer with a deep interest in the history of American roots music\, Sayles’s live performances evoke a modern interpretation of the coffee house shows of the 1950s and 60s\, while still keeping one foot grounded in the beer halls\, honky-tonks\, and night clubs of the recent past and present. \nPhilville Records was located in Ventura\, CA from 2009-2019\, and is now based in Eau Claire\, Wisconsin. Sayles continues to write\, record\, produce and perform as a solo artist\, as well as with the Ventucky String Band\, and his more recent alt. country project the Detroit Sportsmen’s Congress. He also performs and does session work with several Los Angeles\, Ventura\, Portland and Santa Barbara alt. country and roots music projects. \n“Clever songwriting alongside rearranged classics– a throwback style that knows good\, old-fashioned storytelling…yet is utterly unpretentious about modernity.”\n–The Source\, Bend\, Oregon \nConnect via website https://www.philvillerecords.com/\nwww.nlightsentertainment.com
