SUMMARY:Split Pine 2018
DESCRIPTION:Split Pine 2018 is a back yard music open to the public for the first time! Featuring killer vibes\, good dogs\, lots of string lights\, bonfires\, yard games\, and the same 7-story pine tree in our front yard. We don’t want you to miss out on a great show and evening. \nEveryone gets a LaCroix Water upon entry. \n2018 Lineup Features: \n\nMottle\nNikola\nWyatt Moran\nTwin Lakes\nVILD\nFauna & Flora\n\n\nFauna & Flora\n \nThe name ‘Fauna & Flora’ implies a duality—between animals and nature\, between natural and artificial sounds\, between man and woman\, between love and loss\, between the familiar and the foreign. \nThere’s a grand piano upstairs and a pad synth downstairs in the Nelson household; each serve their purpose. There’s an alto voice on stage floating above sub bass patches\, rhythmic loops\, and percussive scratches\, blips\, and pops; all living together. \nThe air becomes denser by the downbeat. Each song by this Rochester trio seems to exist in a parallel universe—one where sound encompasses us like nature and we are drawn to contemplate and reflect with them. \n  \n\n\n\nWatch\n \n\n\nListen\n \n\n\n\nVILD\n \nVILD\, personally known as Emily Elizabeth Nelson\, is a musician\, artist\, photographer\, beyond born and raised in Rochester\, MN. \nShe has been walking this earth for twenty-two years now\, moving\, shifting\, pacing\, wandering\, never really sure of where she belonged or what she was meant to do. She has found her refuge in music from birth\, though\, a special place between time and space for her to learn\, grow\, love\, and wander. \nVILD heard the Cranberries from the womb\, played by her mother\, fell asleep to Enya from the day she was born\, also played by her mother\, and went on to discover music for her own as she grew older and wiser. Some of VILD’s greatest influences include Enya to more contemporary artists such as Zella Day\, Bastille\, and Lana Del Rey with some traces of the Beatles and beyond. However\, she will insist that her inspiration stems equally from her experiences with all the different artists she has stumbled upon over the years. \nAdmittedly\, she is still discovering her sound. VILD has roots in piano\, guitar\, and violin and was vocally trained by William Bastian\, opera singer and professor\, at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth\, MN. \nVILD is the Swedish word for wild\, and it is the name she has chosen for herself. Her soul has become wild and free\, for the first time in ages\, and thus will be her name. Music has forever been VILD’s channel of release\, whether she has been playing\, listening\, discovering\, or writing. It has always been a part of her\, heartbeat\, beating\, always. The deepest and darkest wanderings of her soul have become lost among the notes\, the lyrics\, the sounds\, leaving her heart free to be. These creations\, her sounds\, are far beyond her own understanding. They are born to be free\, free to help\, free to inspire\, and free to wander. VILD thanks you for listening and is honored to share this journey with you. \n\n\n\nWatch\n \n\n\nListen\n \n\n\n\nTwin Lakes\n \nTwin Lakes is a three piece band out of Rochester\, Minnesota. We primarily play groove oriented\, folk rock with a mix of covers ranging from classic hits to newer pop. Our music is our passion. We have a blast playing whether it’s for a full crowd or just our neighbors. \nTwin Lakes consists of: Robert Baune on guitar and lead vocals\, Nate Pettey on bass and backing vocals\, and Alex Ortberg on percussion and production. \n  \n  \n  \n\n\n\nWatch\n \n\n\nListen\n \n\n\n\nWyatt Moran\n \nWyatt Moran’s songwriting repertoire and musical versatility would be impressive for any local musician\, but at just 17 years old\, the most exciting part about his music is the promise of what’s still to come. Moran\, a rising senior at Century High School\, has already recorded two EPs full of original music\, Freshman and Sophomore\, and is currently working on his third release — of course\, titled Junior. \nMoran’s music is as cathartic as it is youthful. His personal coming-of-age story is remarkably vivid in his first two EPs\, but it doesn’t come through sacrificing relatability. The attention to detail is also apparent in his writing and production: Moran is an accomplished bassist\, guitarist\, drummer and vocalist\, so he records all the instrumentation on his original songs. \n\n\n\n\nWatch\n \n\n\nListen\n \n\n\n\nNikola\n \nNikola Hamilton is a musician\, singer\, & songwriter from Rochester\, Minnesota. His involvement in the local music and arts scene has fed into his passion for music and the creative arts. He is driven to make purposeful and honest music with artists from every genre. \n\n\n  \n\n\n\nMottle\nMottle is an ambient/experimental music project by Chris Kostelec featuring muted vocals\, odd synthesis\, and traditional melody. \n  \n \n\nSponsors\, Partners\, and Friends\nThank you to the sponsors and partners: \n\nMy Town • My Music\nCarpet Booth Studios\nCafé Steam\nRochester Trolley & Tour Company
