Live from the Cove: Yam Haus, Sass, Dwynell Roland & Tabby
Yam Haus is a Minneapolis-based synth-pop/rock band who recently rocked their way into First Ave in May as a last-minute fill-in opening act for Bishop Briggs in front of a sold out crowd.
As a precursor to their debut album, “Stargazer”, Yam has released their instant hit single “West Coast”, which landed a spot in Spotify’s “Poptronix” playlist. With the release of “Stargazer” Yam Haus earned over 600,000 streams and 100,000 listeners on Spotify celebrating with a sold out album release show at Amsterdam Bar & Hall.
With a message of positivity and unity, the quartet effortlessly connects with the crowd with their dance worthy pop grooves. The group is encouraging the crowd to let loose, reminding them that a Yam Haus show is a judgement free zone.
Whether contemplating like Kendrick Lamar or channeling the intensity of Mystikal, Dwynell Roland’s approach to music has always been rooted in humility and a sense of humor. In 2016, “Minnesota’s most relatable rapper” (City Pages) found himself on the biggest stages of his career: an opening slot on Prof Outdoors 3. After word of his turnt up live show and album “The Popular Nobody” got out, Dwynell went on tour with P.O.S.,as well as performed at 89.3 The Current’s Rock the Garden, Go 95.3’s Big Fancy Go Show, Zombie Pub Crawl, and the Snowta NYE festival. When not headlining shows and playing festivals, Roland can be found opening up for the likes of MGK, Sean Kingston, and Har Mar Superstar.
In just a few short years, wonderkid Tabby has grown from YouTube reaction celebrity to a multitalented musical artist in his own right. Whether expressing the manic energy of Orange Boy, exploring his feminine side with stripped down solo sets or anything in between, Tabby is an up-and-coming hip hop artist not to be missed.
We are very pleased to announce our second headliner – Minneapolis-based grunge pop band Sass! Fronted by lead singer Stephanie Murck, their sound combines snappy punk sounds, plenty of grunge and emotionally-driven lyrics. Their album Chew Toy was recently declared one of Minnesota’s best new albums of 2019 by the Star Tribune. This will be their first Rochester show!
Big thanks to sponsor The Rochester Thaw for booking Sass!!!
